 Dan Kleinman of Safe Libraries has published an opinion piece about the American Library Association's unholy advocacy of sexually explicit and age-inappropriate books in libraries and schools. FTA:

"[The ALA's] advocacy work is focused on promoting sexually inappropriate content--for minors. Therein lies the fundamental battle at America's schools and libraries. ALA activists and ALA-backed librarians are fighting for kids to read explicit material, and parents are rightly objecting."

Losing Perspective

 Imagine a librarian making a "statement" like this. Whether you agree or disagree with the policies of a president, these kinds of dangerous polemics discredit the individual making them and are a smear on librarians in general. Hickson should be roundly called out by those in her profession.

 Dan Kleinman of the World Library Association explains that the ALA and some activist librarians make much ado about nothing when it comes to "book bans." Also, notice what former librarian Kelly Jensen, who writes for Book Riot, says in her article on the anniversary of the children's book And Tango Makes Three: "And Tango Makes Three is a powerful work of children’s nonfiction. It presents young people the factual reality that heterosexuality is not nature’s de facto setting..."

In her article, Jensen notes that there are other same-sex couples among the zoo's penguins. I wonder if confinement within the zoo setting has anything to do with animal behavior...

There she goes again. Kelly Jensen is lying 🤥 about books 📚 that school librarians place into schools. She interviews the authors of And Tango Makes Three who are suing @ecpsfl for daring to apply local laws and standards instead of accepting Chicago ALA’s anything goes.

And Tango Makes Three is shelved in both the Ozark and Nixa children's section of the library. It is one of the more tame indoctrination books for children, but the intent is there. Jensen's article highlights it: heterosexuality is not the actual normative state of nature (which necessarily includes humans).

There is a highly organized top down movement that includes nations, international organizations, state and local groups, and uber-wealthy ideologues that are attempting to move humanity off of foundational objective truths. Why?

It's Columbus Day!

 

The Christian County Library is closed because it's a "Staff Training Day." Don't the employees get the federal holiday off? A keyword search of "Christopher Columbus" in the Coolcat Catalog is interesting. Here is a decent book for kids: Columbus Day. Another one HERE. It describes Columbus as "neither as hero nor heel but as a flawed and complex man whose significance is undeniably monumental." Here's a lovely entry: Kill Columbus, in which time travelers seek to go back in time and kill the explorer before he can discover the new world. Sigh. Slim pickings for children.

According to National Days Blog: "Columbus Day, observed on the second Monday of October, is a federal holiday in the United States commemorating Christopher Columbus’s arrival in the Americas on October 1292. In 2024, Columbus Day falls on October 14th. It is a reminder of the spirit of exploration, the quest for new horizons, and the courage to venture into the unknown. This day not only honours Columbus’s achievements but also invites us to reflect on the historical implications of his voyages."
