Missouri State University has ended its DEI program. The K-12 schools can't be far behind. The paroxysms of disbelief and dismay can be found HERE. And the original announcement from the Springfield Daily Citizen is HERE.
DEI was always a racism-in-disguise program that has finally been ended by President Trump's administration and state officials who are following his lead. Let's just be clear, in the end this was always about money. As long as the state and federal dollars were flowing toward DEI programs, the university rolled along.
Here's the money quote from Missouri State President Dr. Richard B. Williams: “As a university, we value diverse thought and actions and support all our students, faculty and staff. However, 38% of our budget comes from the state. For us to continue providing a quality education to our students, we must align with the requirements laid out by state leadership.”
If the university truly believed in DEI programs, wouldn't they take a principled stand and fight, regardless of the dollars? While Missouri State University Prof. Elizabeth Dudash-Buskirk, foundress of U-turn in Education has been active in dissenting from MSU's decision, where is the statement from U-turn in Education? Waiting eagerly for their response to MSU's actions.
Prof. Dudash-Buskirk is consistent, at least. |
MSU is a publicly-funded educational institution. Perhaps it will keep U-turn in Education busy for a day or two and give citizens a break who are fighting to protect parental rights and children in the Christian County Library, as well as in public school libraries.
Nah. Brace yourselves. :-)
